A 6-year-old boy flying alone on Spirit Airlines to see his grandma in Fort Myers, Florida, got on the wrong plane and went to Orlando. In an email to some news company, Spirit Airlines said they apologized to the family.
What Actually Happened?
They said on December 21, the boy should have flown from Philadelphia Airport to Fort Myers Airport. But he got on the wrong plane by mistake and went to Orlando.
They said the boy was always with a Spirit worker, and when they found out the mistake, they told the family and brought them together. CNN talked to Maria Ramos, who said the boy was her grandson.
She said she was scared when the plane he should have been on came and he was not there.
She said her grandson called her after he got to Orlando, and they drove almost 160 miles from Fort Myers to get him.
The airline said they would pay them for the drive, but she wanted to know how this happened.
Spirit Airlines did not say how they made the mistake. They said they care about taking all their customers safely and they are looking into it. They said they were sorry to the family for what happened.
