A public and military airfield called Benny Benson State Airport (ADQ) is situated four nautical miles southwest of Kodiak’s downtown. The fleet mix of airport traffic includes everything from general aviation planes to Boeing 737s. 

The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities is in charge of managing the airport, which is state-owned (DOT&PF). It serves as a center for Servant Air and the co-located Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak. 

Charters are offered to the Katmai coast and Kodiak archipelago.

Kodiak Benny Benson State Airport Terminals

The primary international airport servicing Kodiak is Kodiak Benny Benson State Airport.

It is the primary entry point to the Alaskan border and services domestic flights inside the state of Alaska, long haul flights within North America, flights to Hawaii, flights to the Far East, and flights to other parts of the world.

However, seasonal and charter flights are primarily offered in the summer, when ADQ Airport sees its highest volume of travelers.

Three lengthy runways are present at Kodiak Benny Benson Airport.


North Terminal

 The primary international terminal is the North Terminal. In the summer, it also provides flights that are seasonal and on charter.

It has three levels and is where boarding gates N1–N8 are located.

South Terminal

Regional and domestic flights within Alaska and the United States are offered by the South Terminal.

Concourse A (gates A10-A113), Concourse B (gates B1-B5), and Concourse C (gates C1-C2) are all located there.

Transfer Between the Terminal

Every 15 minutes, a free airport shuttle runs between the rental car facility, the employee parking lot, and the south domestic terminal for travelers

Public Transport Facilities

Bus – The Bus for the airport runs between Kodiak Benny Benson Airport, central Kodiak, and Beverly Avenue. The journey time to central Kodiak is approximately 30 minutes, and the fare is 5 USD. 

Shuttle – An end-to-end shuttle ride is offered by the Hawk-Eye Shuttle (tel – +1-642-764-2341).

Taxi – Taxis are available at each terminal, operated by Hire For Hire Kodiak Can and Yellow Cab. You can access the taxi stand via the underground transportation lobby at the South Terminal. At the North Terminal, a taxi stand is located outside the arrival hall. A taxi ride to central Kodiak takes 15 minutes and the fare is around 20 USD.

Money – ATMs and Money Transfers are available at all terminals. 

Food – ADQ airport food count is located in both the North and South terminal. You can find restaurants from the likes of Silver Gulch, Starbucks, and Norton Sound Seafood. There are also various food outlets and bars. There ate fine dining options available too.
